About me
I am Tays Serra, also known as Koi. I was born and raised in Rio de janeiro colors and brushes have always been a part of my life since I was a child. My art is inspired by my Family and my daily life and my goal is to put my feelings onto a canvas. At 17 I decided to dedicate myself to my art and to draw and let the colors speak to me. I had the opportunity to take an art course in Rio de janeiro, where I immersed myself more in the melody in the brushes of life.
A few years later I came to Germany, a country rich with flowers and the colors of the 4 seasons which then inspired me to dive into my talent. I have had sad and dark moments in Germany that have motivated me to continue my art.
The cold from the northern hemisphere has made me miss the colorful colors of Brazil, unfortunately I got into an unhappy partnership and was trapped for many years in a very confined environment. The fire of Brazil nourished my dreams and gave me the strength to free myself at the lowest point of my life. I lost my strength and the question how i would go on further was answered by a friend who is also an artist. He gave me paint, paper and some brushes. The picture I painted in that moment evoked a strong feeling of enthusiasm in my cirle of friends and I myself was incredibly happy with it.
How my artworks are created
The cold of the northern hemisphere always led me to the colorful colors of Brazil. Unfortunately, I got into an unhappy partnership and was trapped for many years in a very confined environment.
The fire of Brazil nourished my dreams and gave me the strength to free myself at the lowest point of my life.
The new freedom gave me new air to breathe. My strength exploded and the question of how to go on with me was initiated by a friend artist.
He gave me some color, paper and brush. The picture I painted caused a storm of enthusiasm in the circle of friends. And I myself felt incredibly happy with it.
It was as if a deep treasure had been discovered in me. I had found something with which I could process my old worries, fears and worries. With which I can now make my dreams visible.
I have so far led an exciting, colorful, multifaceted life. I have experienced the highest happiness and the deepest misery in person.
I want to express all these experiences in pictures. I want to warn and make people happy. Sometimes they should just be beautiful like a tropical flower or a wave on the beach in the sense of a decoration for a room.
My world has remained Cologne. Life there inspires me. My head is full of ideas. I always have a notebook and pen to keep the thousand ideas in small sketches.
It's like an avalanche that has developed from a small snow globe. In the environment of art I am happy and feel comfortable. I am inspired by other artists and museums.
Museum?
Some of my pictures have become so well known that they have been lent to museums. One of them is a picture that I call "Favela's head" (acrylic on canvas, 60 x 80 cm).
